Meet Our Coaches
Kamil Basriyev
Owner, Head Coach
Head Coach Kamil Basriyev began practicing Judo around the age of 9 at one of the first Judo clubs in his region of Russia. Eventually, he trained thoroughly enough to make the Russian National Youth Team.
As a member of this team, he traveled around the world and competed in other countries including in Japan and locations across the whole of Europe.
When Kamil was 18 he was drafted into the military and continued to train.
But he paused his Judo training at the age of 21 because of an injury and his desire to take care of his family.
When his son Rustam was 12 he brought him to Judo and began helping to coach Rustam’s fellow students.
This experience reignited his love for the sport and eventually led him to start his own club, Sword Judo Sambo.
